Ephyra, designed by Shunji Yamanaka as a simulation for future artifact, is a structural object exhibited at TOKYO FIBER ‘07 “SENSEWARE”.

Wrapped by a greatly-extensible fibre weaved into a cylinder, Ephyra elongates and contracts its 12 tentacles slowly just like a sea animal. Its motion attracts audiences and as soon as they touch one of the tentacles, Ephyra contracts it at breathtaking speed!
